Based on the stimulated Brillouin scattering effect, the Brillouin optical time domain analyzer BOTDA uses two ultra-narrow linewidth laser light sources, namely pump (pulsed optical signal) and probe (continuous optical signal), to inject the optical signals at both ends of the sensing fiber, measure and detect the optical signals at the pulsed optical end of the sensing fiber, and perform high-speed data acquisition and processing.
